James D. Ulrich Award

Presented annually by the Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame to the outstanding Male College Athlete of the Year from other than NCAA Division I Colleges in or from the Niagara Association.

James D. Ulrich

This award is named for James D. Ulrich, a member of the Hall of Fame's Class of 2011, who is a former head track and field coach at Fredonia State University where he coached five NCAA Division III National Champions. His teams won the New York State Collegiate Track and Field Conference (NYSCTFC) Men's Track & Field Championship 14 times Indoors and 13 times Outdoors; the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Track & Field Champions 14 times Indoors and 21 times (including 20 consecutive) Outdoors. Ulrich, who is highly decorated, was named the SUNYAC Coach of the Year thirteen times, NYSCTFA Coach of the Year eight times, NCAA Division III Regional Coach of the Year five times, and received the SUNYAC Service Award.
