Winners of the 2017 Annual Awards of the Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame Announced
Rochester, NY: The Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame of Fame is proud to announce the winners of its 2017 Annual Awards. These awards recognize performances and accomplishments made during the 2016-2017 school year.
The 2017 Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame of Fame Annual Awards were presented in conjunction with the induction into the Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame of our Class of 2015 (Martin I. "Marty" Glickman, 1936, Syracuse University) and Harry M. "Hal" Jewett (1890, University of Notre Dame), and Robert C. Mealey (1951, Cornell University); our Class of 2016 (Edward B. Kirby (1924, Cornell University) and Walter D. "Duke" Wood (1936, Cornell University)); and our Class of 2017 (Jack Dianetti (1951, Michigan State University), R. Nathan Taylor, coach at Cornell University from 1999 to 2015) Herbert L. Trube (1908, Cornell University), and Linus Vere Windnagle (1917, Cornell University)).
The three finalists for each of these awards were outstanding performers during the 2016-2017 school year. The very high quality of these finalists continues to be a hallmark of this awards program. While the three finalists for any one of these awards couldn’t all be selected as the winner, any of the finalists would have been a well-deserved winner.
Samantha Watson of Rush Henrietta Sperry High School is our first three-time repeat winner of any award. She won the Cynthia J. Wyatt Award in 2015, 2016, and 2017.
There are two additional repeat winners from 2016 Annual Awards. Rudy Winkler, of Cornell University, is the second repeat winner of the Donald J. Paige Award and Katherine Pitman, of Ithaca College, is the second repeat winner of the Jack Tupper Daniels Award.
