Rochester, NY: The 2018 Semifinalist Watch List for the Jack Tupper Daniels Award (College Female Athlete of the Year - non-Division 1 Schools) is presented below. All athletes listed on this watch list and the Others Considered list competed at the 2018 NCAA Division III National Outdoor Championship meet and / or earned All-American status during either the Cross Country, Indoor, or Outdoor seasons during this school year.

The members of 11 person watch list come from seven colleges and universities. They each achieved All-American status in their respective events at the 2018 NCAA Division III National Outdoor Championships. In total, the members of this watch list won five national championships (by four athletes) and earned twenty All-American certificates. The fifteen athletes on the Others Considered list come from eight schools. Between the two lists, thirteen colleges and universities are represented.

Geneseo State has three athletes on this watch list while, Ithaca College and Brockport State each has two athletes on this watch list. MIT, Nazareth College, and the University of Rochester each have one athlete this watch list. Geneseo State has four athletes on the Others Considered list while Ithaca College has three. Buffalo State, Fredonia State, Nazareth College, New York University (NYU), RIT, and St. John Fisher College each have one athlete on the Others Considered list.

This version of the watch list reflects the performances through the end of the 2018 Outdoor season and takes into account the results of the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. This is the final Jack Tupper Daniels Award watch list for the 2017-2018 school year.

The finalists for this award will be determined from this watch list.

The list of finalists for each of the annual awards will be announced in July.

The finalists (top 3) will be selected from these lists of semifinalists by a panel of area coaches, participants, and nationally-based historians and statisticians.

The winner of all eight of Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame annual awards are selected by the same panel of area coaches, participants, and nationally-based historians and statisticians.

The 2018 Annual Awards winners will be announced in late August or early September 2018.

About the Jack Tupper Daniels Award

The Jack Tupper Daniels Award, which debuted in 2012, is presented annually by the Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame to the outstanding Female College Athlete of the Year from other than NCAA Division I Colleges in or from the Niagara Association.

Dr. Jack T. Daniels, a member of the Hall of Fame's Class of 2003, who is a former Head Cross Country Coach at Cortland State. His women's cross country team won seven NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships and finished second once. The women's team won 11 SUNYAC team titles and six Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) team titles. Cortland women have earned 40 cross country All-American honors and four individual national titles. Cortland men won seven SUNYAC cross country team titles and earned five All-American awards. Cortland won the 1991 NCAA Division III Women's Indoor Track and Field national title. Between cross country and track, Daniels coached 20 national champions and more than 110 All-Americans. Daniels was named the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country "Coach of the Century" and was the inaugural winner of national "Coach of the Year" honors in 1993. Daniels earned State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year honors twice and SUNYAC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year twice.

About the Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame

Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame and Virtual Museum is provisionally chartered by the Regents of the University of the State of New York. The purpose of the Niagara Track & Field Hall of Fame and Virtual Museum is to recognize those individuals who made significant and outstanding contributions to the Sport of Athletics (including Track & Field, Long Distance Running, Race Walking, and Cross Country Running) while living within the geographic boundaries (New York State West of and including the counties of Oswego, Onondaga, Cortland, and Broome) of the Niagara Association as athletes (including Masters), coaches, and/or administrators (including Competition Officials).
